TaqMan® Gene Expression Assays
New TaqMan® Fusion Transcript Assays

TaqMan® Technology: Expanding the Range of Gene Expression Analysis

• Sensitive, gene-specific assays for quantitating gene expression by real-time PCR
• More than 770,000 assays for human, mouse, rat, Rhesus, canine, Drosophila, Arabidopsis, and C. elegans genes
• Quick, accurate detection of fusion transcripts resulting from chromosomal translocations

MORE TaqMan® Gene Expression Assays for Rhesus and Canine Targets
Applied Biosystems offers the most comprehensive set of pre-designed real-time PCR assays available. All TaqMan Gene Expression Assays are designed with a validated bioinformatics pipeline, are mapped to NCBI RefSeq, and run under universal PCR conditions.

Rhesus and dogs are model organisms in pre-clinical research, especially for infectious and genetic diseases. The number of TaqMan Assays for these species has recently been expanded: more than 11,500 Rhesus assays and 22,500 canine assays are now available (Figure 1). New assays for 8 species are developed and released as new RefSeq transcripts become available.

Figure 1. Summary of the Collection of TaqMan® Gene Expression Assays. TaqMan Assays currently target genes from eight species. Custom assays and primer/probes are also available.

If you do not see your species or gene of interest, Custom TaqMan Assays or Custom Primers and Probes are available.

NEW Largest Collection of Pre-designed Assays for Fusion Transcripts
Chromosomal translocations may cause disease (e.g., cancer) by interrupting the expression of a protein or by producing a functional fusion protein (Figure 2). Studying fusion transcripts can be complex. The new TaqMan Fusion Transcript Assays eliminate the difficult and time-consuming process of designing quantitative real-time PCR primers and optimizing conditions. The PCR primers span the fusion point to ensure specific amplification of the fusion transcript. Multiple assays are available for many fusion transcripts to enable differentiation and quantitation of major and minor variants.

Figure 2. Schematic of a Chromosomal Translocation. The red and green bars represent two genes that fuse and generate a biologically active protein from a chimeric mRNA transcript.
