FirstChoice RNA
  Total RNA

Ambion offers FirstChoice Total RNA from a variety of normal human, mouse and rat tissues and cell lines. The samples are processed using Ambion's RNA isolation reagents to produce highly pure, intact RNA. A stringent DNase treatment is performed to ensure that the RNA is ready for use in any downstream application.

All Total RNAs

miRNA Certified FirstChoice® Total RNAs: Most RNA isolation protocols were developed for long messenger RNA and are not optimized to recover small molecules. Ambion has validated that our isolation procedures efficiently recover small RNA molecules and certify that these FirstChoice Total RNA products contain miRNA.

FirstChoice® Human Total RNA Survey Panel: 10 µg pools of total RNA from 20 different normal, human tissues. Each pool is comprised of RNA from at least 3 tissue donors and includes documentation on each donor in the form of age, sex, race, cause of death, and diagnoses.

  Poly(A) RNA
Subjected to the same stringent quality control measures as our total RNA products, Ambion's Poly(A) RNA products also undergo two rounds of oligo(dT) selection resulting in virtually complete elimination of ribosomal RNA.
  Tumor RNA

Ambion's FirstChoice Tumor RNA comes from individual human tumors. When available, RNA from the corresponding normal adjacent tissue can be included in a separate tube. Because of the small size of each individual tumor, RNA availability is limited. Please call or search our Tumor RNA database for additional information and product availability.

  Human Brain Region RNA
Many researchers will be pleased to learn that Ambion now offers high quality RNA from human brain tissue. Not only does this unique tissue require optimized protocols for isolation of RNA, but it also requires special precautions during collection to preserve RNA integrity. Ambion has worked with a number of organizations to develop these optimized protocols, resulting in consistent yield of high quality RNA from this invaluable tissue.
  Human Brain Reference RNA
Ambion’s FirstChoice Human Brain Reference RNA is a high quality standard for human microarray analysis, pooled from multiple donors and several brain regions, thus ensuring unbiased coverage. The Reference RNA is the same RNA (identical manufacturing lot) used for the MicroArray Quality Control (MAQC) project. For more information about the MAQC project, please visit: www.fda.gov/nctr/science/centers/toxicoinformatics/maqc

FirstChoice cDNA
  RACE-Ready cDNA

To isolate high quality cDNA, Ambion begins with the highest quality RNA available and performs the FirstChoice RLM-RACE protocol in-house to provide RACE-Ready cDNA in a ready-to-use format. Our procedures are optimized to yield high mass amounts of full-length cDNA.

  • Synthetic 5'-RNA adapter and anchored oligo(dT) adapter assure accurate sequence information at both ends of a message
  • Includes primers for 5' RLM-RACE and classic 3'RACE
  PCR-Ready cDNA

An excellent source of tissue specific, PCR-ready, first-strand cDNA! Our PCR-Ready cDNA is ready to be used for gene discovery or expression analysis applications. Each product contains enough cDNA for 50 PCRs.

  • Optimized to yield high mass amounts of full-length cDNA
  • Primed with both random decamers and oligo(dT) to maximize full-length cDNA
  • Column-purified after synthesis to remove primers and small reaction products
FirstChoice Northern Blots

Ambion's expertise in blot hybridization procedures has led to the development of the most sensitive and useful Northern analysis products available. The FirstChoice Northern Blots can be used for the relative quantitation of specific messages, to quickly assess gene expression across different tissues, to identify alternative splice forms, and with the inclusion of Ambion's Millennium Markers™ on each blot, to accurately determine the size of any transcript.

  • Analyze gene expression in multiple tissues with a single hybridization
  • Convenient - no RNA isolation, no gels, no blotting
  • Optimized for maximum sensitivity
