The last step in every RNA isolation protocol is to resuspend the purified RNA pellet. After painstakingly isolating the RNA, it is crucial that the pellet be suspended and stored in a safe, RNase-free solution. Ambion now introduces an array of RNA Storage Solutions for this purpose: - THE RNA Storage Solution: 1 mM sodium citrate, pH 6.4 +/- 0.2
- 0.1 mM EDTA: in nuclease-free, ultrapure water
- TE Buffer: 10 mM Tris-HCl, 1 mM EDTA, pH 7.0
These solutions are prepared from the purest reagents available, under scrupulously monitored conditions in our state-of-the-art manufacturing facility. They are then subjected to rigorous quality control procedures to guarantee their purity and performance.
TE Buffer and 0.1 mM EDTA are two solutions commonly recommended in standard RNA isolation procedures. THE RNA Storage Solution is a buffer that we believe will deliver greater RNA stability than standard 0.1 mM EDTA or TE Buffer. THE RNA Storage Solution has two features which minimize base hydrolysis of RNA: a low pH, and sodium citrate, which is an efficient chelating agent. THE RNA Storage Solution is compatible with all common RNA applications such as reverse transcription, in vitro transcription, Northern analysis and nuclease protection assays.
Most RNA storage solutions are supplied in two convenient formats: as ten 1 ml aliquots, or in one 50 ml bottle.
